Hunting Island State Park Chaplain
Position Description
Place of Service: Hunting Island State Park, South Carolina (14 miles East of Beaufort)
Terms of Service: Dates are Negotiable
Spring Chaplains: April 2 – May 31, 2007
Summer Chaplains: June 1 – August 12th, 2007
Fall Chaplains: August 13th – December 3, 2007
Compensation: $70/week food stipend, RV hookup, local travel
Principle Function:
To provide ministry to campers and park employees of Hunting Island State Park, SC through worship leadership, pastoral care, and ministry leadership.
Sponsoring Ministry
The purpose of LowCountry Ministries (LCM) is to facilitate volunteers of all ages to express the love of God and the care of the churches to the people who live, play, work and visit in Beaufort and Jasper counties, South Carolina. LCM is an outreach ministry of the 32 Savannah River Baptist Association of churches in Beaufort and Jasper Counties, SC. Spring and fall ministries at park include: Sunday worship services, employee visitation, campground visitation and canvassing, and pastoral care. Summer chaplain ministries include: Sunday worship services, employee cookouts, and supervision of youth mission teams.

Personal Characteristics
1. A Christian couple who are actively involved in a local church.
2. There is no ethnic or gender preference.
3. Ability to supervised and work with mission teams (summer)
4. Self starter who is able to lead ministries
5. Ability to provide own camper.
6. Driver's license with own transportation.
7. Capability of working within a resort ministry philosophy of ministry.
Ministry Skills:
Worship leadership skills, Preaching or public speaking, Pastoral care skills, Ability to share faith in a secular environment, and Ability to relate to and minister to youth mission teams (summer)
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Plan, lead, and evaluate Sunday worship services in campground, including preaching.
2. Canvass campground every Saturday.
3. Provide pastoral care to campground guests.
4. Provide pastoral care to state park employees.
5. Plan, organize, and provide employee cookouts (summer only)
6. Supervise mission teams and summer ministry (summer only)
7. Assist with other LCM or SRBA ministries.
